Multi50 update, FenetreA Cardinal and Actual relaunched after winter refit, Maitre Jacques receiving new floats

The FenetreA Cardinal team have relaunched their Multi50 as a cost saving move they shared refit space with Team Actual in Hennebont who have also relauched earlier this week.

You can follow the FenetreA Cardinal team on their Facebook page:

In other Multi50 news the trimaran Maitre Jacques is to receive new floats.  The damage that occurred to the starboard float in the 2013 Transat Jacques Vabre convinced the team that it was best to replace both rather than attempt a repair.  As a bonus the new floats should boost Maitre Jacques performance and make the top end of the Multi50 field even more competitive.  They hope to have the boat ready to launch by the 29th of May.

Transat Jacques Vabre update, Multi50's Actual and FenetreA Cardinal continue their battle down Brazilian Coast

From the following article on the Transat Jacques Vabre website:

http://www.transat-jacques-vabre.com/en/long-lining

The two leading Multi 50s continue their duel down the Brazilian coast in steady E’ly trade winds on what is presently just a straightforward head to head boatspeed contest. They have no real strategic options ahead until Cabo Frio at the entrance to the Bay of Rio. They should pass the entrance to Salvador de Bahia today in just a little over 12 days which will stand up well against the 2005 mark set by Franck Yves Escoffier of 12 days and 6 hours 14 minutes.

FenêtréA Cardinal (Le Roux-Elies) and Actual (Le Blévec-de Pavant) remain in close contact with some 25 miles separating this closely matched leading duo.

Class leaders of the Multi50s, Actual, sailed by Yves Le Blévec and Kito de Pavant have confirmed that they have decided to make a technical stop in Madeira which lies 160 miles away pretty much on their direct course. They plan to re-install part of their wind instruments at the top of the mast. Ronan Deshayes, technician, will be in situ to help. The stop is expected to be a short one. On the 1000hrs ranking this morning Actual were leading by 39 miles ahead of FenêtreA-Cardinal (Erwan Le Roux/Yann Eliès).
