Ian Farrier has posted another update on the production  F-22 trimaran.  In the latest update we see the assembled trailer and more finishing touches being added to Hull #1.

Cross 26 Trimaran POCO LOCO Sailing Again

The Cross 26-foot trimaran named POCO LOCO is sailing once again. (We first featured this boat here).

Sailor-owner Brandon Walters worked hard (with lots of help along the way from others) to complete its restoration. And he is very pleased with the results.

Apart from the boat itself being a great, original design from Norm Cross, the foundation for this project’s success was the fact that the boat was at least structurally sound to begin with. That is key.
There has to be some point at which a prospective sailor says to himself or herself, “Hey, I’d rather build a new boat than restore this one.” But such decisions are subjective, aren’t they? Such is the nature of our individual desires and dreams.

GF42 New 42' trimaran design intended for cruising and racing round the buoys and offshore

Greg Lynn has emailed me about his new trimaran a 42' design intended to strike a balance between some creature comforts and high performance.  The trimaran is under construction now and will be a great addition to the growing SoCal multihull scene.  The project is being carried out on as tight a budget as possible.  The tooling and molds will allow the construction of more boats to the same design as part of a limited production run if there is interest.

Greg writes: It is a custom trimaran for my use that I designed in collaboration with Fred Courouble (www.couroubledesign.com) for my own use in Southern California for day sailing with my family and friends as well as coastal and buoy racing.  All of the information on the design and build team as well as some of the specs are on the website and there are some photos on the facebook page:

The crew at Farrier Marine are making progress on the production version of the F-22 trimaran and unit #1 is getting closer to launching.  They have now joined up the hulls and beams and all the folding sytem is in place.

We love all multihulls over here at Trimaran Project and one project that has caught our eye in particular is the "Nixe" proa being built by Alexander in Thailand.  Alexander and his helper have now moved to the stage of joining the hulls with newly constructed crossbeams.  It's all looking very good.  The build thread is on the proafile forums here

This update from the 19th December.  The crew at Farrier Marine are preparing to infuse the first deck for the Farrier F-22 trimaran.

The crew at Farrier Marine are making steady progress with the latest step in construction of the production version of the F-22 trimaran being the fitting of foam core to the deck mold.  In future these foam pieces will be computer cut saving considerable time and effort.

Nixe Proa, build progressing well

Some time ago I put up a link to this interesting thread on the Proafile forums, this proa is being constructed using the tortured ply or "stressform" technique in Thailand.  The builder "Alexander" has made excellent progress and the most recent updates are here

A new photo of the progress on the F22 trimaran deck mold has been published.  The latest image shows the lamination of the deck mold complete with core installed in preperation for the final stiffening framing to be fitted prior to use.

Farrier F85sr trimaran nearing completion in the Phillipines

Glynn Thomas's F85sr is nearing completion at Multihulls Direct in the Phillipines.  This will be the first of this new model to hit the water if they continue with their current fast build progress.

Phil Steggal's 50' carbon racing trimaran project

Phil Steggal is somewhat of a legend in multihull ocean racing circles.  He built his first trimaran to a Walter Greene design in 1979 and came a respectable third in the 1980 OSTAR transatlantic race.  A composites expert he has setup a website detailing the design and construction of his latest carbon fibre trimaran.  A lot of useful and interesting information on his website.

Ian Farrier F22 production trimaran taking shape

Ian Farrier of Farrier Marine has been consistently updating a webpage on the construction of the tooling and equipment required to construct the production version of the F22 trimaran.  The last update was on the 14th of October and they are now completing the deck mold.
